Are You This Type Of Christian?
I came across this top 10 article about signs that you’re a Christian and reflected for a while about how most people really see us as Christians. While I thought that many people had already encountered this top 10 list, I also thought of posting it here but with a little twist. This time I’ll have to check myself – maybe you too, if you’re a Christian – whether you are this type of Christian.

You vigorously deny the existence of thousands of gods claimed by other religions, but feel outraged when someone denies the existence of your god.
You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from lesser life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.
You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Trinity god.
Your face turns purple when you hear of the "atrocities" attributed to Allah, but you don't even flinch when hearing about how God/Jehovah slaughtered all the babies of Egypt in "Exodus" and ordered the elimination of entire ethnic groups in "Joshua" -- including women, children, and trees!
You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.
You are willing to spend your life looking for little loop-holes in the scientifically established age of the Earth (4.55 billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by pre-historic tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that the Earth is a couple of generations old.
You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects -- will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet you consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving".
While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to prove Christianity.
You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.
You actually know a lot less than many Atheists and Agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history -- but still call yourself a Christian.

I don’t deny the existence of thousands of gods out there. As Christian, anything can be a god to a person. I am not outraged when someone denies my God. I felt sad especially if I love that person.#9
You feel insulted and "dehumanized" when scientists say that people evolved from lesser life forms, but you have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.
Although sometimes I thought of evolution and asked where are we heading? What do we looked like in the future? Are we going to have 10 hands and no feet? Most of the time I just ignore the theory and yes I have no problem with the Biblical claim that we were created from dirt.#8
You laugh at polytheists, but you have no problem believing in a Trinity god.
Every Christian knows that there is a difference between polytheist and believing in Trinity. While many Christians have difficulty understanding this logically, the more difficult it can be to unbelievers.#7
My views about this one can’t be explained in a very short paragraph. I am not a Bible scholar neither a historian but this question is very situational. This is for sure; my face will not just turn purple but darker when I hear Christians slaughtering people in the Name of my God.#6
You laugh at Hindu beliefs that deify humans, and Greek claims about gods sleeping with women, but you have no problem believing that the Holy Spirit impregnated Mary, who then gave birth to a man-god who got killed, came back to life and then ascended into the sky.
I don’t laugh at other’s faith, beliefs and claims about their God. The “impregnation” (I am not sure if the word exist, but you know what I meant) part was kind of taken literally to be compared with other gods sleeping with earthly women.#5
You are willing to spend your life looking for little loop-holes in the scientifically established age of the Earth (4.55 billion years), but you find nothing wrong with believing dates recorded by pre-historic tribesmen sitting in their tents and guessing that the Earth is a couple of generations old.
I don’t live my life looking for loop-holes and errors in others’ theories and neither will I be willing to spend my life looking for them. Even if I have the full knowledge of the Bible and be able to prove to everybody that the Bible is true it will not make me a Christian.#4
You believe that the entire population of this planet with the exception of those who share your beliefs -- though excluding those in all rival sects -- will spend Eternity in an infinite Hell of Suffering. And yet you consider your religion the most "tolerant" and "loving".
Only the person himself/herself and God know where he/she would go after death. I don’t and cannot judge other people. I am not sure about being “tolerant”, that maybe a misconception, but about loving, yes Christian should be. And a yes also that God is love but that’s not all. God is also JUST…and more. Many of us like to dwell on “Love” because it feeds our selfish nature.#3
While modern science, history, geology, biology, and physics have failed to convince you otherwise, some idiot rolling around on the floor speaking in "tongues" may be all the evidence you need to prove Christianity.
I think that this is a sweeping generalization. Not all Christians speak in tongues and not all Christians believe that this manifestation of the Holy Spirit still happens today. And who am I to judge the work and ways of God?#2
You define 0.01% as a "high success rate" when it comes to answered prayers. You consider that to be evidence that prayer works. And you think that the remaining 99.99% FAILURE was simply the will of God.
I believe that God answer's all prayers, but not all of what i prayed for got a "yes" from God. There were also "no" and "yes, but later". I have several posts regarding this one previously:#1

You actually know a lot less than many Atheists and Agnostics do about the Bible, Christianity, and church history -- but still call yourself a Christian.
As I have written above, Even if I have the full knowledge of the Bible and be able to prove to everybody that the Bible is true it will not make me a Christian..
Amen, to your comments about the Christian top ten; I prayerfully agree with you,my brother, in the Lord.

Thank you very much Gary. God bless you brother.
ReplyDeleteI don't agree with everything you wrote, but I do agree that a lot of these are huge generalizations. Too many evangelical atheists may think they understand the Bible (at least from their own point of view) but know very little of a true religious experience. Too many people in general are very lazy and insist on defining Christians on the most vocal and idiotic among us, rather than spending five minutes to discover that there are many variations of Christianity, and that many of us are quite liberal and free-thinking ourselves.
