As a follower of Christ, my faith is the foundation of who I am. It guides my actions, shapes my understanding of the world, and offers me a sense of peace and purpose. In this post, I want to share with you my Statement of Faith—what I believe about God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, and salvation. This declaration is not just a set of doctrines but a personal affirmation of my relationship with my Creator.
It is important to clarify that my faith is built on the truth of the Bible, which is the inspired and authoritative word of God. Each statement I share is rooted in Scripture and reflects my understanding of God's plan for mankind and His work through Jesus Christ.
I Believe That:
- There is one true God, eternally existing in three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person possesses equally all the attributes of deity and the characteristics of personality. This belief in the Trinity forms the foundation of the Christian faith, where God is both one and three, a profound mystery that brings unity and diversity to our understanding of the divine.
- Jesus Christ is God, the living Word who became flesh through His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and virgin birth. In His person, He is both perfect Deity and true humanity, united forever. Jesus’ divine nature does not diminish His humanity, nor does His humanity lessen His divinity. He is the perfect God-man.
- He lived a sinless life and voluntarily atoned for the sins of humanity by dying on the cross as our substitute. His sacrificial death satisfied divine justice and made salvation possible for all who trust in Him alone. The cross was not an accident but the fulfillment of God's eternal plan for redemption.
- He rose from the dead in the same body, though glorified, in which He lived and died. Jesus’ resurrection is not just a spiritual reality, but a physical, historical event. He ascended bodily into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God the Father. There, He serves as the only mediator between God and man, continually interceding on behalf of those who belong to Him.
- Man was originally created in the image of God. Through disobedience, mankind sinned, and as a result, was alienated from their Creator. This fall brought divine condemnation upon all humanity. We are all born into sin and are incapable of pleasing God on our own.
- Man's nature is corrupted, and as such, he is totally unable to please God. Every person is in desperate need of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit. Without God's intervention, humanity remains spiritually dead, separated from God by sin.
- The salvation of man is wholly the work of God's grace, not based on human works, goodness, or religious rituals. God imputes His righteousness to those who place their faith in Christ alone for their salvation. It is through this faith that we are justified before God, not by anything we can do.
- Assurance of salvation is a privilege for all who are born again through the Spirit. From the moment a person trusts Christ, they can be assured of their salvation. This assurance comes not from personal merit but from the inner witness of the Holy Spirit, who confirms the truth of God’s promises through His Word.
- The Holy Spirit is present in the world to reveal and glorify Christ. He applies the saving work of Christ to individuals, convicts sinners, imparts new life, indwells believers from the moment of spiritual birth, and seals them until the day of redemption. The fullness, power, and control of the Holy Spirit are available to every believer, accessed through faith.
- Every believer is called to live by the power of the Holy Spirit and bear fruit for God's glory. The Spirit empowers us to resist the desires of the flesh and live according to God's will. By abiding in Christ, we bear fruit that reflects the character of Jesus and serves as a witness to His transforming power.
- Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, His Body, which includes all believers, living and dead, who have been united to Him through saving faith. God calls His people to assemble regularly for worship, partaking in the ordinances, studying Scripture, and encouraging one another. The Church is the community where believers grow together in faith.
- At physical death, the believer enters immediately into eternal, conscious fellowship with the Lord. This eternal fellowship will culminate in the resurrection of the body, when we are glorified and experience everlasting joy and blessing in the presence of God.
- Jesus Christ will return again to earth—personally, visibly, and bodily. His return will mark the fulfillment of God’s eternal plan and the final consummation of history. This event will usher in a new heaven and new earth, where God will dwell with His people forever.
- The Great Commission is a command to all believers to proclaim the Gospel to the world and make disciples of every nation. This mission requires that all personal and worldly ambitions be subordinated to the call of Christ, who gave Himself for us. Evangelism and discipleship are essential components of the Christian life and mark the life of a true follower of Christ.
My Statement of Faith is a personal reflection of the core beliefs that define who I am as a Christian. These beliefs shape my understanding of God, my purpose in life, and my responsibility to others. As I live each day, I strive to embody these truths by loving God with all my heart, loving my neighbor as myself, and sharing the message of Christ with the world.
I encourage you, whether you are a believer or seeking to understand more about the Christian faith, to reflect on these truths. Jesus Christ offers hope, salvation, and eternal life to all who trust in Him. Let this declaration be an invitation to explore the richness of God's grace and the depth of His love.
Amen to you my beautiful Filipino sister! The truth of our faith is shown through the love we have for all brothers and sisters!
ReplyDeleteThe glory of G-D is our faith as we live a life that is ruled by grace- G-d's unmerited favor towards us by the action of His son on the cross!
All who posses the mark of the passover blood of Jesus are slaves to grace. There is nothing you can do to escape this slavery since it was nothing you did to earn it but have faith!
