Why Aren't You Married?

The single question i am tired of responding. I am sure i am not alone here. When you're 30'ish or more and still single, question like this pokes you at different directions at anytime of the day.

I usually gave different answers depending on who was asked. Many of my answers were insinuations that I don't want to talk about it. It's not because i don't like talking about it, it's just not the kind of topic you talk to all the people you know.

Below are some witty (or sarcastic) responses i found on the net, have fun.
  1. You haven't asked yet.
  2. I was hoping to do something meaningful with my life.
  3. What? And spoil my great sex life?
  4. Why aren't you thin yet?
  5. Because I just love hearing this question.
  6. Just lucky, I guess.
  7. It gives my mother something to live for.
  8. My fiancee is awaiting his/her parole.
  9. I'm still hoping for a shot at Miss/Mr. America.
  10. Do you know how hard it is to get two tickets to Miss Saigon?
  11. I'm waiting until I get to be your age.
  12. It didn't seem worth a blood test.
  13. I already have enough laundry to do, thank you.
  14. Because I think it would take all the spontaneity out of dating.
  15. My co-op board doesn't allow spouses.
  16. I'd have to forfeit my billion dollar trust fund.
  17. They just opened a great singles bar on my block.
  18. I wouldn't want my parents to drop dead from sheer happiness.
  19. I guess it just goes to prove that you can't trust those voodoo doll rituals.
  20. What? And lose all the money I've invested in running personal ads?
  21. We really want to, but my lover's spouse just won't go for it.
  22. I don't want to have to support another person on my paycheck.
  23. Nobody would believe me in white.
  24. I'm married to my career, although recently we have been considering a trial separation.
  25. (Bonus reply for Single Mothers) Because having a husband and a child would be redundant.
Seriously, people have different reasons (hopefully none of the above) why they are still single. Some said it's a calling, it's God's will or haven't found her/him yet. Some told me it's a choice. There were also those who wanted to get married but were hesitant/afraid. Personally, it's a choice.

  4. I'd go for #3. Jejejejejejeje. I had been asked for this for the nth time. Not because I'm old in fact i'm young and the best part--> now is the best time I could fully enjoy my time and nobody to hinder me. Surely it's nice to have someone special by your side but there's also cons in doing so... not to mention the past breakups which i don't even want to remember hahahahhahaha... Dagdagan ko pa ang rason ko---> "Naghahanap ng mapapangasawang libre na ang pagkain! Sa hirap ng buhay ngayon" hahahahahahah...But seriously, since my last breakup, it was not on my top list anymore... Maybe in the next few years... Just marriage ha! yung fling and the likes di naman nawawala so ano pang hahanapin ko...jijijijijijiji

  6. when i was asked by my mother or my "pamangkins" of this question, i just answered:

to my mom: "o heto! pambayad sa kuryente, at eto naman pang grocery."

to my pamangkins: "baon mo next week, yung sapatos mo ba ok pa?"

... and automatically, the topic changed. buti na lang! :)

  8. Gusto ko sabihin 'pag ganyan ...

"Eh kasi po hindi pa legal ang same sex marriage sa Pinas, kaya di pa po ako pede pakasal sa bf ko."

That would really freak out my relatives, siblings, and parents. Of course I really can't say that. I joked about it with my sister and she was serious when she said she'll slap my face if I ever said it again.

  9. Just lucky, I guess.

    this one is my favorite..

seriously, we don't need someone in the opposite sex to love life..there's more to life than getting married...

pero syempre, bonus na din yun..

    aheks..

i'm not ready for something like it naman..ang yabang yabang nilang mgatanong ng ganun eh hindi naman simpleng bagay yun..

    nakikianonymous na naman po...

marriage is always a choice. sabi nga ng isang kumpare kong philosopher na hindi ko na matandaan ang pangalan: marriage is a three-ring circus -- engagement ring, marriage ring, and suffering. :)
